1 // transparent wood

we twist spaces between cells into windows
pull out pigments and lignin
remove wood from wood
until we have glass
or the closest thing we can get
xylem lets light in through soft spaces
green architecture without colour–

perhaps we will build a house
out of transparent wood
call it the greengreenhouse and laugh
secretly delighted at its name
at what we have built

Introduction

Hey, name’s Callan, I’m a student in Liverpool, UK, but currently at my parents’ home in the East Midlands. I like poetry. I like science. I like plants. I’ve got this magazine thing in the works (www.facebook.com/independentvariablemag) with the idea of bringing poets and scientists together by combining the two disciplines, which should be fun. I guess I’m going to try and represent that a bit with some science-themed poetry (always fun! try it).

Good luck to everyone 🙂
