Creation
invites
expression-
connection-
a place of communion,
an exploration of self.
I like having you near me
just doing your own thing.
You are one
of my favorite beings
in all of
creation.

Creation
invites
expression-
connection-
a place of communion,
an exploration of self.
I like having you near me
just doing your own thing.
You are one
of my favorite beings
in all of
creation.
I told myself
I’d never again
open my heart or
let someone in.
But you came
knocking at my door.
And my spirit whispered
”try once more.”
I flung open the door—
a trust fall without fear.
You strode into my heart.
I’m so glad you’re here.
When dark skies signal
a gathering storm,
I reach for you
while I try to stay warm.
Like an open umbrella
protecting me
the shelter you give
brings me safety and peace.
read life to me
in pictures and poems
fill in the blanks
with inflection and expression
read love to me
with your hands and a whisper
transport me into
your magnificent worlds
Beneath the streets
subway cars rumble.
Platform serenades
soothe or annoy
while you wait.
Offshore, Lady Liberty
watches and wonders
when Freedom’s
bright promise
will be renewed
and fulfilled
at America’s gateway.
You showed up at my door
with a smile and a quick kiss
I sipped joy all morning,
as I tasted your name.
The only way out
is through
through the depths
of a lifetime
of emotions denied
across the threshold
between then and now
carrying memories,
hopes
and presence
into
the light.
Have you forgotten me yet?
The ways it was easy?
How I felt like home?
How you were never alone?
Have you forgotten the ways you
wanted to please me
the ways that I teased you
and then delivered it all?
So much time has passed.
And yet I’ve never forgotten.
The essence of you.
I hope you think of me too.
