Hour 14 – Reading through – Image Prompt

Reading your poems

All over again is what I cherish

Spoken from the heart, hits the right emotion

I see you through them for I know you love words

I do not see your rhyming verses often

But I love the treasure I have

I am blessed to have kept them through

For they are etched in my heart forever.

Hour 13 – Bake or Cake

I tried to bake a cake today,

But things did not go my way.

I mixed the flour and the sugar,

And then I added the egg and the butter.

But when it came time to bake,

I realized my mistake.

I had forgotten to preheat the oven,

And now my cake was looking nothing but rotten.

I tried to salvage the mess,

And decided to play it by ear, I confess.

I added some cocoa powder and a pinch of salt,

And hoped for the best, though it was not my fault.

But when I pulled it out of the oven,

I knew that it was not for lovin’.

It was flat and hard as a rock,

And I knew I’d have to toss it in the trash block.

So next time I try to bake,

I’ll make sure to preheat and not make a mistake.

Or maybe I’ll just stick to buying,

And avoid any more cake-baking crying.

Hour 12 – The Ghost

The ghost has returned

At the window he shows

You believe him to be gone

He knows, he watched you grow

His patience not outmanoeuvered

He knows what you are thinking for tomorrow

He has to win each night

Beg to him, cry, he knows

You will give unto him

Until you find peace

Long after your tears and fears

He knows, he knows you enough.

Hour 11 – Winding Roads – Image Prompt

I walk on a winding road

Stumbling down on it

A lonesome path seldom strolled

I start to question it

Sky dyed red

Haunted by the light

Following in my gait

Fright blooming in the night

As I walked the winding road

Feet fell stride for stride

The wanderer teases

Of what will betide

No rain to cool me down

It is as hard as a rock

Burning my feet red

As I dream of a shock

I sigh and continue on the road

Which I have started to loath

The echo razes beneath

I will swing on my oath

And I walk on my winding road

The path made for me

The one standing alone

Wherever I am welcome, there I’ll be

Hour 8 – Am I your Star – Image Prompt

The breeze caressing my face

As I begin my journey through the sand

The desert calling me to sit down

The beauty of the moonless night

Looking up and observing the sky

That is what I am best at “observing” it seems

Contemplating how the stars shine

Searching for the brightest one

I wish you were here with me

Our hearts would have conversed

Beneath this refined stardust

That enchanting gaze would have lit up my eyes

To restore faith in myself

That warm embrace which I would long for

Would have made me bloom fully

You are solely the star I am looking for

I am eternally stargazing.

Hour 7 – My Swing

I remember many things

Like the time I had my own swing

It’s rope and wood and hangs on a tree

He’s always there to set me free

I’ll swing so high that I can see the next road

Going back and forth on foot to climb higher is fun

Sometimes I’ll be brave and take the leap

Fly through the air and land with a thud

Many times this trick really works

But sometimes it really hurts

I want to go back to simpler times

When joy is fun and it’s not a crime

When we are humans and jokes were jokes

No one is angry at what life has in store…

Hour 6 – The Lone Traveler – Image Prompt

I am trapped in life

And can’t wait to try it myself

I let the pain waft around me

When I started dreaming

Indulged in fantasies

From distant worlds and secret places

As I pull out my pen

Plan my wishes and thoughts

While the ink is blooming on the paper

I realized that I drew a map

Past, future and present

And the world as I know it

Heard the call from the world

It spreads to my feet

I am a restless traveler

And I get to know my world

Have peace when you see me

Walking alone, talking to myself

Have peace…I am a lone traveler

Hour 5 – A Chilled Mystery

A movement in the corner of the eye,

Noise in the dark

A lost glove

A cold wind blew and the door closed

Today footprints in the snow

Curtains flutter in the empty house,

A small stain on the carpet,

Ice cream melted on the kitchen floor.

A melody indistinguishable from the howling wind,

A whisper in the walls

A garden walk

Soft on frozen snow.

Sweating even though it’s cold

A faint star in the night sky

Distant voices in the dark

A shadow of a man wandering on an empty street

Rose petals on the doormat

Dust in the air

A flickering candle

Just a ghost lurking in the house

Just a lonely soul that can’t let go

Until it is forgotten

Like all the lost gloves

And footprints

And stars

Like all the characters in the misty winter night.
