Cycle

The sun burns

The wind blows

My sweat pools

My body aches.

Long days

Short nights

Hard work

Little time.

Eat.

Sleep.

Work.

Repeat.

Chemical Valley

They call it Chemical Valley

The barbed wire fence

Surrounding the millions of metal pipes

In a plant that produces toxic air.

Just down the bumpy road

And over the paved bridge

Are manicured lawns where people live.

To those passing by

The blue rivers a pretty sight

Neighbouring the border, just to the right.

But to the locals

Who wait for the sirens

And pray they won’t blare out of schedule

This has become they way they live.

Anxiety

The time is ticking

I’ve fallen behind

I thought this would be easy

My mind lied.

I should’ve known

An anxious child like me

Would worry and stress

Over the quality of my words

And the subject of my post.

I thought I could just write

And be content with that

But instead,

I’m worrying about being perfect.

Today’s The Day!

Today’s the day

I write 24 poems

Today’s the day

I won’t coward

Today’s the day

I rise to the challenge

Today’s the day

I put pen to paper

Today’s the day

I make it happen

Today’s the day.

Hello Fellow Writers and Poets!

Hi!

My name is Dree and I’ve never participated in an online forum like this before, so I’m super excited to be apart of it this year. I am a current student working towards my end goal of obtaining my Masters by 2025.

I’ve always enjoyed writing from a very young age, but have never really shared them with anyone because of nerves. I am hoping that this experience will allow me to share more of my writing and potentially provide inspiration for future pieces I’ll create.

I look forward to reading the work of others as we embark on one heck of a challenge.

Good luck everyone!

– Dree
