Lost and Found

The land knows you, even when you are lost.
It will find you and bring you home.
Sometimes faith feels so distant and it leaves the landscape dark.
But the light inside of your spirit will illuminate bright with a steady spark.
Keep your eyes on the road, your gaze on the path
Know that the sun will shine on you in the aftermath

When you are lost, just close your eyes.
You will find a great surprise
You're never to lost and never alone
Your angel is nearby, to take you back home.

Insuperable

What do you want for dinner?

World Peace

Rubix Cubes

Reaching that place where lost socks go

The space between time and eternity.

You and me.

Escape

A free bird leaps

on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wing
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.
But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied

so he opens his throat to sing
.
The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.
The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn
and he names the sky his own
But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.
The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

Dear Little Gina

Dear precious little Gina
Never saying a word
Then scream at the top of the stairs
Just trying to be heard.

Dear pretty little Gina
The world will work out fine.
In spite of how it seems
The smiles will come with time.

Dear precocious little Gina
Stay to your goals and dreams
The unique things that make them tease you
Will become your winning themes.

Weekend Getaway

Campfires rage in a steel cold night.

Coffee by the fireside and music that is right.

The hush of the fog makes everything else stand still

The moonbeam through the fir trees make the darkness more real.

Just inside the cabin window there a canteen on the shelf

Left behind from the day he said, “I have to find myself”

Securing the canoe at the concrete buoy to leave it at the dock

They took the night to sit together and forget about the clocks.

They didn’t give a damn when the awoke and found that they were there all night

They looked at one another and laughed at the pain because love had made it all right.

Normal People

Take us on your ride, Sally.
What does that mean?
What normal people have you ever seen?
Maybe I over anticipate what you'll say.
Maybe your characters will live in a normal way.
They'll have joys and pains, sunshine and rain
And when it's all said and done, they'll be imperfect but sane.

Best Pet

I live for your furry face
To come home to your warm kisses and thankful eyes
We don't deserve dogs, you keep me alive.

I would die without your calming face
Sweet whiskers and purr that relaxes my mind
Cats are the most perfect companion to find.

But me, I have kids.

One Thousand and One

There were at least one thousand and one reasons to go back.

I only needed the one. Simple love lived there.

It had been years since I paid her a visit, yet she welcomed me like it was yesterday.

Simple love is easy that way.

As I drove through the sunlight hills untouch grass swayed in the wind. Waving at me.

The little boy that I once was ran across that field, farther away from home than he should be. But it was okay here.

Two childhood friends ran close behind and they all laughed so loud and pure that it flooded my ears.

They faded as I drove ahead. I smiled as they faded into my heart.

Big momma’s voice pulled me inside.

Papa was already there.

More food than my sisters and I would see on a table in the north state where we lived filled the table. It was all good.

Papa talked about his fields and beasts. His favorite tried to escape again to run and play. Again.

He was so proud that daddy would be back from serving his country soon. Our chatter made momma wake up.

The dinner scene faded into my heart. Tears of love filled my eyes.

Taller than allowed grass blades filled my eyes and the softened face of a strong man peered through the window.

The same voice, big momma’s song, called out my name. Her face showed that she had been happily blessed with many seasons.

Her round arms opened and welcomed me in.

It had been too many years. I always employ modern technology to bring these great people to me.

But this time. No. Nah. I needed to meet them here. One more time.

So I’d never forget Simple Love.

Prisoner

No one sees the bars when the jailer is your mind.

Who do you petition for freedom?

How do you escape the confinement of a space that is with you always?

Even when you appear to be free.

It is critical of you, more than most.

Then claims to be your key to freedom.

Solitary confinement – when all you want to be is free

Locked away with just your thoughts

Escape or release may never be.

Trapped in the prison of your mind.

The Trip

I was able to visit a place that is out of this world.

I couldn’t describe the feeling inside when I saw then light and splendor.

At first I thought that the lights were so bright, then realize that Love was the light.

I felt comfort that I’ve never known, like in my first time there I had been there before.

And the Peace, it was everywhere! Everyone lived in joy without a care.

So I decided that I was home. I would go on living there.

I was sure that ones I’d loved would come by so we could share

But I was told I had to go. Return to my home and thrive

I was given a word to live on, Psalm 37 verse 25

Then I had to leave His side

My opening eyes had proof that I cried.

But that gift has continued to encourage my stride.

After my vacation
