Hour 9

‏Not everyone will clap for you,

when it’s time for an applause,

Not everyone will reach out a hand when you fall,

Not everyone will acknowledge you,

Too many will overlook, or scroll on by,

Not everyone will pray For you,

Plenty is praying against you,

But, once you find that someone or two,

That will champion you,

Hold fast don’t let go,

And don’t forget to be reciprocal.

Hour 8

Thanks for your support,

All of my friends and non friends

Confetti, cheers to you!

Hour 7

I remember my young days,

Picturing how it would be,

In my mind,

It was all planned out,

And I knew it would come to be,

This is the formula,

Stick to it; don’t you falter,

Yet, the formula changed,

I guess there were things I didn’t factor,

Or did it really change,

Or did it stay the same?

We’re there more pertinent things that mattered?

I doubt it-

I guess I am trying to put a reason to the matter,

Because in my young days,

Visualizing it made it so real,

Yet, in my older days,

It seems so far away.

Hour 6

How powerful is thy tongue,

Must I ask?

More powerful than our brain,

that controls each task?

Is it your heart, which blood flows,

that keeps you moving?

Quite possibly, it has to be,

least powerful than our lungs,

that keeps us breathing?

Can’t be more powerful than our limbs,

which provides us with mobility?

Thy physical wounds may heal,

Yet thy painstaken words may you forever feel.

Hour 5

Hear me, oh, hear me,

My cries have fell on death ears,

I’ve been forsaken.

Tanka – Hour 4

My body, my choice,

I guess not –You chose for me,

A gun has more rights!

What if…if? Oh, nevermind,

Best if I not speak it to.

A Tanka Poem – Hour 3

Not going to lie,

You keep running through my mind,

Not always constant,

Just enough for memories,

To flash, and I slightly smile.

Hour 2

Stand up and speak out,

Stand up to what you believe,

Sway not from the truth.

Hour 1

Prices are rising,

Wages barely changing,

How must we maintain?

Excited

I am excited for the poetry marathon. This is my second year and I am looking forward to reading some awesome poetry.
