Hour Eight ~ Fly Away ~

 Fly fly away
this is your day
do not fear
come what may

see the world
so beautiful
from land to the sea
It is made for you and me

In a balloon up high
far away from the sky
life is fragile,hold tight
fly straight or cut the flight.

Hour Seven ~ Nothing Normal ~

Text Prompt

Write a poem exploring the word normal.

Nothing Normal
All life came to a halt one day
but that has happened before
but this time it was not threat of
King Kong Dracula or Frankenstein-

Nor a bomb or missile attack
Nor was it a world war with guns
this time it was an unseen killer
from the other side of divine

Normal is a walk to the market
a drive in the car, going to school
with a smile,a luch box with books
a clean dress and joyful looks

normal is playing games
hugging and shaking hands
eating together, sitting close
uncovered is the nose-

All this was reversed
stay indoors wash hands
wear a mask and stay six
feet apart, or breath your last.

Hour Six ~ Through the Window ~

Through the window , we see life, asleep and cold
world seems like an ice berg half alive
static silent still
though movement is visible
but pending doom
so far away it seems cannot zoom
The bridge connects,reflects a presence
but a mystery profound, on higher ground.

Hour Thirteen ~ You Came Before

Text Prompt

Write a poem where death is personified in some way.

O’ Death, You Came for me

you came before and lifted me quietly,
I felt the pull
I saw my self flying straight up high
it was so swift,the flight
a few seconds and I looked down
oh where are you taking me?
my children are so young
and my parents are in later age
they need me too

see  they are alone,
And O Death you were so kind
You let me go’
You had permission to do that
and I heard you say something’ ?

Now if I have been good
have looked after my parents
and have guided my children
on the straight path
I hope and pray that
my way, will be illumined
each  day of life ,scented
colorful like daisies.
O Death you will be gentle.

Hour Five ~ Time Capsule ~ Strange Discovery ~

Text Prompt

You find a time capsule buried in the backyard of your new home (or anywhere else, depends on you). What’s in it? How old is it or its probable story is up to the poet.

Contributed by Bhasha Dwivedi.

Strange Discovery

Earth preserves unique treasures in its bosom
gold silver jewels, precious stones and bones
the box we found in the back yard of the new house
was strange,as it was not locked nor full of stones

Opening was easy as weight was light, dusty on sight
it contained a paper, rumpled but legible, white and light
a mysterious map of a mysterious kind ,of unique might
a reflection of the greatest part of physical delight

map of the mind it was
a magnifying glass
an audio cassette
a small prayer book
and a note of thanks
addressed to the universe

all the objects were familiar
except the map
hundreds of years old
except for the cassette
and prayers were bold
strangely the language had
two versions, made me sad
when I was able to read the prayer
all was well, and I was glad.

Hour Four ~ Grandeur of Poetry ~

The Book I picked from the shelf is “The Participatory Mind” by Henryk Skolimowsky

The last line is:

In the grandeur that it requires”

Poem
Words when came were divine
the first and the last of the Lord will be
Of good  best  pure and kind
Of teaching in lines of rhyme
in softness of sound and stress
of intonation and incline
Grand is the language that will be
form of poems and poetry
writers will write and write
let it be in grand form,in the
grandeur that it requires to be.

Hour Three ~ Days are Hotter

Text Prompt

Write a poem that repeats the same line three times, and then end on a variation of the repeated line. It could be a little different, or vary different, depending on what serves the poem best.

Eversince the onset of Summer
temperatures have risen
days are hotter
humans animals insects
all are restless
water is scarce
days are hotter
sweat pours like a river
no ice to make one shiver
cockroaches appear,make one quiver
days are hotter-
Summer is real,it has appeal
lemonade can help to cool
pass the time relieive the stress
the rich have the swimming pool
for others it is the beach or a stool
under a tree, if lucky to be in context

hotter are the days, hotter they will be.

Coffee and Change – Hour Two- Hot or Cold?

I changed my drink
my heart seemed to sink
from tea to coffee, it made
me think-
would it help to ease the pain
to make me well again?
to bring good cheer to
the spirit and clear all
the strain of suffering-?

I changed my drink.

The Day is Ending

The day is ending the sun is slowly sinking down
she is ready with her cap cape and gown
to the wards she will make her way
to look after the sick, till is day

Nurse on night duty is an angel
her work is rare ,commendable
she helps the ill to be well and stable
may the Lord bless and keep her capable
