OUR FLAG

HOUR TWENTY THREE

POEM #23

24 HOUR

POEM

MARATHON

OUR FLAG

Stars and stripes forever,

Our enemies never.

A background of blue,

Stars always in view.

May it fly high,

Touching the sky.

Sing loud and clear,

Give America cheer.

America strong and great,

Flying over every state.

If our flag got tore,

In battle or war.

It could forever be found,

Flying high not on the ground.

All enemies beware,

With pride we care.

Our flag flies high,

Touching the sky.

We are strong we have clout.

We will shed no tear,

Our nation has no fear.

Armies a real fighting force,

Ours boys stay the course.

They will protect us all,

Watching the enemy fall.

Our flag in the sunshine,

Our country one of a kind.

Greatest nation on earth,

That GOD gave birth.

RABBITS IN MY GARDEN

HOUR TWENTY ONE

POEM # 21

24HOUR

POEM

MARATHON

RABBITS IN MY GARDEN

Rabbits in my garden,

I beg your pardon.

Hearing them crunch,

Having their lunch.

So good was a beet,

They had two repeat.

Getting their fill,

On twigs of dill.

Gave their friends a call,

Found large cabbage ball.

Now instead of two,

There are quite a few.

Rabbits hopping about,

All crunching no doubt.

Eating,everything in sight,

Morning,noon and night.

Their white tails fluffed.

Their tummies stuffed.

LUCKY DUCK

LUCKY DUCK

There is a little duck,

We will name Buck.

His mother almost died,

We all stood and cried.

A miracle was given,

Momma is still livin.

Now this little duck,

We will name luck.

BEGIN AND END

,

HOUR NINETEEN

POEM # 19

24 HOUR

POEM

MARATHON

BEGIN AND END

Life begins on a high,

Death ends on a sigh.

Birth to dust, short not long,

Sing a sad or happy song.

Days like vapor, years go fast,

Hopefully my legacy will last.

Man made toys left behind,

Now memories fill my mind.

Laughter only once, now I cry,

Catch your kiss, eyes not dry.

Death will pay for my crime,

No man knows when its time.

Death roams from dusk to dawn,

Like a storm he’s quick and gone.

Death takes our world away,

Life is born fighting to stay.

DISARM TO ARM

HOUR EIGHTEEN

POEM # 18

24 HOUR

POEM

MARATHON

DISARM TO ARM

Why am I dressed in black?

With a large cross on my back/

Walking this hot burning road,

Eyes sparkle shine and explode.

From here to there to nowhere,

Bald, blind, desperate to care.

Is my heart mine, or is it yours?

Are sins on my lap after tours?

God are you in the unmarked sky?

Darkened by blackbirds flying by.

Why no light, no white line to see?

Marching towards eternity by me.

Disarm take the dark shadow away,

Pleading arm the light, show the way.

ONCE A MAN TWICE A CHILD

HOUR SEVENTEEN

POEM # 17

24 HOUR

POEM MARATHON

ONCE A MAN TWICE A CHILD

I learned to walk,

Before I could talk.

Easy to use fork and spoon,

Cow jumped over the moon.

Tied my shoes, button my shirt,

Played in the sand and dirt.

Taught to read and to spell.

Bounced back when I fell.

Twenty years boy, now a man,

Will fate come with a plan?

Fifty years man, now a boy.

Will fate bring a different toy?

Hard to read and to spell,

Thoughts don’t seem to jell.

Slip on shoes, slip on shirt,

Trying so hard to stay alert.

I eat with straw and spoon,

Sit and stare the afternoon.

Need a cane when I walk,

Words garbled when I talk.

SUMMER WORKERS

HOUR FIFTEEN

POEM # 15

24 HOUR

POEM

MARATHON

SUMMER WORKERS

Was it you passing through my valley?

Were you asleep on rags in an alley?

Sweat beads on your brow from the heat,

Flames from the Suns nostrils, call retreat.

Misfortune travels coast to coast,

Your ears hear frustration boast.

Shade from the giant oaks curtail the fire,

Fields of crops needing workers to hire.

Sit down in our valley by rushing stream,

Fall asleep as your mind engulfs a dream.

Snow dragons wrestle you till dawn,

Once again you are the Suns pawn.

DONUTS

HOUR FOURTEEN

POEM # 14

24 HOUR

POEM

MARATHON

DONUTS

Donuts need a hole,

A dozen my goal.

Favorites have glaze,

Eat four to amaze.

Pastry my down fall,

I can eat them all.

Half dozen to start,

They soon will depart.

Cream filled to try,

On my list to buy.

Better than cake,

Nothing you bake.

Breakfast or a snack,

Buy them by the sack.

Donuts without a hole,

Not donuts but a roll!
