Poem Four ~ Who?

Hey, who is that,
standing by the door?

Hey, who is that,
letting people pass?

Hey, who is that,
giving away their leftovers?

Hey, who is that,
dying on the street corner?

Poem Three ~ I Want to Know You, I Want to See You

I want to know you,
I want to see you.

I want to see what you look like,
underneath that mask.

I want to see you when you’re
alone at home.

I want to know what you do
when your nose itches,

and

I want to know what you say
when customers are rude.

I want to see your face contort
from uncontrollable laughter.

and

I want to see your snarl
when you wake up too early.

I want to see you at your best,
I want to know you at your worst,

and

I want to
love you.

Poem Two ~ Rooftops and Treetops

How are rooftops like tree tops?
There are tiles like leaves,
and there are cinderblocks like
the branches twisting down.

If only rooftops could breathe like trees,
could only grow like trees,
could only give life like trees.

Hello, All!

Greetings! I’m Zephie, and I joined the Poetry Marathon for the first time this year!

I’m a college student – a creative writing major! I’m currently on break, and the Marathon will help me greatly in getting some work done this summer before going back in the fall! Hopefully, with blessings, Susquehanna University’s (my school) Poetry Slam club can do something similar to the Marathon during the year, because it seems like a lot of fun!

To prepare I’m going to have a whole lot of water – hydration is important after all – and make sure to use my extra time to walk around and not get overly distracted by Youtube, video games, etc. Basically, keep the mind active! I’m also making sure to get a good night’s sleep every night in advance to prepare.

I look forward to participating with all of you!
