Patience – Making Strides – HOUR NINE

Patience – Making Strides

(Inspired by my painting, PATIENCE-MAKING STRIDES)

Standing serene and patient,

mindful of all that surrounds you,

you teach us about waiting, about vigilance

about being watchful and alert

You know yourself, Great Blue,

self reliant, resilient, and stable.

You take only what you need and never more.

But that I would live like you

I am making strides to know myself

to understand as you do, what is best for me

to follow my heart and not my head

and to soar with you my spirit guide.

  1. Thanks so much
I totally agree about learning from our feathered friends.
We’re lucky to get a wide variety of birds in our backyard. Unfortunately no water there so my captures of Blue Herons are on vacations and day trips out of town.

  2. This is beautiful Wendy! I swear that you must be my writing soul sister twin! There is this majestic blue heron that wades into the Seguin (right underneath the Trestle bridge in Parry Sound and I have meditated with him a couple of ties throughout visits. You capture his serenity beautifully…and I love your painting too! Those first few lines and “you teach us about waiting, about vigilance…”You know yourself Great Blue.” Beautiful work!I love that you take inspiration from this totem as do I.

  3. Maybe we are just that Ingrid…. If you get to Bracebridge over the summer, please get come by… I’ll PM you on Facebook my contact info… Thanks so much for your feedback. I’m so glad both the poem and the painting connected with you!
