Love in the time of COVID – (I had sworn off men because of a thirty-year bad run)

My therapist asked me if I was ready

to open myself up to a relationship.

Hell no!

A chuckle and not two weeks later,

I turned around, and there you were.

Not someone new

but someone I never really saw before.

And now I can’t imagine not seeing you,

a gift I never expected,

exactly what I needed.

  1. I love the opening line of this poem – so catchy! There’s so much potential in this poem, I just think it needs a little adjustment on the line breaks and it’ll be golden. I’d love to show you an edited version if you’d like me to mess with it! 😊
