I love the exuberance of this poem; and the subtle context of current day underpinning it – the line “they needn’t come back to earth” such a fantasy right now. To be little and free in the park! You captured the moment wonderfully.

Wonderful lines:
“Skated for miles
and hours, whisper singing, I wish
I had a river I could skate away on,
and almost succeeded, but the sharp cold
always brought me home,”
And also how it moves through ideas, and weaves the story, and builds to the ending.

Powerful in its initial simplicitly; and the starkness of the final lines, catupulted by the references to Auschwitz and Frankl. Well done.

“my city of I / and its reliability to be always / steady and constant is in doubt” –
A powerful and evocative series of ideas; quite compressed.
Lots of powerful lines like that one in this poem.

I added you! I think you initially didn’t show up, because you never pressed “publish” for many of your poems. You should probably do this, if you want other poets to be able to see them.

The repitition in this poem is lovely; I especially like how it built to the last two lines, which were fresh and familiar at once.

There are so many striking lines (and contrasts) in this poem.
“The minister is saying the same platitudes.
Think of chocolate. Think of your bloody
white pants. ”

I really like how you ended this poem:
“for you are full of fresh fragrance
I will come home to embrace you”

These lines really stand out to me; they’re quite evocative:
“First breathless moments in eternity,
I know I will see you there,
true marriage struck unspeakable,” -

Powerful! You chose a good structure for this poem; it works well, it keeps momentum, while still adding new ideas with each stanza. 🙂

That second stanza is really knockout; a difficult conceit to pull off, but you did it, and did it well.

I counted 155 half marathoners!
I couldn’t find my name here.
I added you! I think you initially didn’t show up, because you never pressed “publish” for many of your poems. You should probably do this, if you want other poets to be able to see them.
I haven’t found my name even in miscellaneous here.
my poems are in the draft.
155 X 12 = 1860
I don’t see my name either.
On third look, I’m there! LOL…sorry!
There I am! 😍😍
It’s being a pleasure, even if it was difficult. Thanks a lot 😃😃
Hola,
my name doesn’t appear either, is it because the poems are “private”?
Thanks 🙂
The privacy setting doesn’t matter. Send us a message at poets@thepoetrymarathon.com and we’ll sort it out!
It was a challenge! More than I thought it would be! Thanks for the opportunity and I hope I produced at least one poem worth reading!! Any other Aussies out there, I’d be interested in you comments on my poem My Country- Australia

2nd year running and I finished both times. Funny enough the first time seemed easier than this time. I got tired and struggled with the last few. No matter. I got ’em done and that’s 12 more added to my arsenal. Congrats everyone! Well done!
I am there and accounted for; thanks Caitlin and hubby, the ride was less bumpy this time, but the view was spectacular!
Thank God for the live writing pad that the Poetry Marathon provides, livestreaming like surfing on the massive sea, never having time to worry if you’ll ever reach the shore. It was soooo effervescent!
Fantastic work, y’all. 🙂
I am here… thanks… took me all this while to figure out how I was to respond to replies to my comments 🙂 🙂
Lots of learning happening here for me… thanks 🙂
