The Giving Seed (Hour 2 – 2020)

Prompt 14, Half Marathon 2: Hour 2

Title: The Giving Seed

An orchard once stood where I now stand.
Plum, apricot, and peach trees speckled this land.

Long before my immigrant roots took root,
before my parents planted the seeds of our family here.

Now, the farmland recedes,
Replaced by warm homes, verdant lawns, and cozy streets.

Yet, the seeds of past giants have been left behind.
The plum trees still have not ceded to the onslaught of time.

Offering us delicious fruit in return for our care.
Bringing new neighbors together, all to share.

Though less in number, all the more beloved.
The seeds of the past still give to this land.
