Fracturing of the mind
Oh how poetic
Mass of chaos
Blowing in the breeze
Seems like everything is lost
So much pressure to endure
Out of touch with time
Need to break free
Fly away in pieces

  1. Because I continued to follow you full-marathoners after I completed, I read this whole and immediately thought of writers in the 20+ hours. That in itself was powerful because it made me appreciate a formed community of many who often write in isolation.

After the first reading, however, I returned to read it aloud. As I read slowly, different times in my life came to my mind’s eye. “Mass of chaos” took on a different emotional memory than did “Blowing in the breeze.” “Need to break free” was static and trapped, but “Fly away in pieces” seemed to bring freedom. What I like about this even now as I type is how your poem can evoke different experiences if only I take the time to read it again. Thank you for sharing this!
