Inimitable<\/span><\/p>\n

not by design<\/span><\/p>\n

but by my twistings<\/span><\/p>\n

like a leaf in the wind<\/span><\/p>\n

turning on a dime<\/span><\/p>\n

the details are unimportant\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

would you be changed by knowing\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

that I’ve had 2 eggs, veggies and toast for breakfast for too many months to recall<\/span><\/p>\n

Or how many sit-ups I did yesterday<\/span><\/p>\n

(I don’t count)<\/span><\/p>\n

Nothing<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I have a small aspirational mountain of books beside my bed<\/span><\/p>\n

A notebook of half-written songs<\/span><\/p>\n

And fingers that are learning to walk<\/span><\/p>\n

The sharps and flats of piano keys and guitar strings<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You would do better to know<\/span><\/p>\n

That I believe in humanity<\/span><\/p>\n

After having been disappointed,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And on occasion, sorely<\/span><\/p>\n

By both those I have seen as community<\/span><\/p>\n

And the structures that were never built to hold them<\/span><\/p>\n

That I believe in you and your magic<\/span><\/p>\n

even when you don’t want me to<\/span><\/p>\n
