{"id":101296,"date":"2021-06-27T04:51:29","date_gmt":"2021-06-27T08:51:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=101296"},"modified":"2021-06-27T04:51:29","modified_gmt":"2021-06-27T08:51:29","slug":"city-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/city-night\/","title":{"rendered":"City night"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p><em><strong>&#8216;&#8230;I go out walkin&#8217; after midnight&#8217;<br \/>\nsearching for you&#8230;&#8217;<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; Patsy Cline<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The darkness holds no special or<br \/>\ntangential fear for me<br \/>\nthough it probably should<br \/>\nfor there is huge difference<br \/>\nbetween the woodlands<br \/>\nI knew growing up and<br \/>\ndecidedly urban environment<br \/>\nI live in now<\/p>\n<p>Unrest last year propelled me<br \/>\ninto our neighborhood<br \/>\nwatch mobilization<br \/>\nobserve, don\u2019t engage, report<br \/>\nnot heeding that advice we<br \/>\nmostly skipped non-engagement<br \/>\ngently offering pushback to<br \/>\nstrangers<\/p>\n<p>Looking back one thing I can say<br \/>\nis that many of us found or<br \/>\nrediscovered affinity for<br \/>\nour city during deepest night<br \/>\nsights, sounds \u2013<br \/>\nsame, not the same<br \/>\nteeming with life beyond our<br \/>\npatrols<\/p>\n<p>Bonds if not friendships were<br \/>\nforged in those few weeks<br \/>\nof nocturnal hustle and bustle<br \/>\nwe came, we saw, we engaged<br \/>\nwe found we liked it<br \/>\nthe rhythm, the aura \u2013<br \/>\nneighborhood, nocturnal, alive<br \/>\nwide asleep<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>\u2013 Mark L.
