I did this last year<\/span><\/p>\n

scoured and scourged my mind and body\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

for the lines to play coda of this heroic symphony<\/span><\/p>\n

I squeeze the last images for their finery<\/span><\/p>\n

infuse an internal rhyme with notes<\/span><\/p>\n

peppered with hints of revealing process<\/span><\/p>\n

and referential specificity<\/span><\/p>\n

I slap myself back to wakefulness<\/span><\/p>\n

having taken a cat nap frommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm<\/span><\/p>\n

Oops – I lost myself to sleep again<\/span><\/p>\n

if I sit like this there\u2019s not way I could fall asleep again<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Syntax slip<\/span><\/p>\n

to surreal marmalade<\/span><\/p>\n

in which float the crumbs<\/span><\/p>\n

of the many snacks<\/span><\/p>\n

I have consumed<\/span><\/p>\n

on this day<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Even the small muscles<\/span><\/p>\n

twitching away in forearms<\/span><\/p>\n

are rebelling–<\/span><\/p>\n

rendering the labor<\/span><\/p>\n

in these long hours finally felt<\/span><\/p>\n

as a stone rolled<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Soon, the sky will grow lighter<\/span><\/p>\n

and I will run out of letters to jenga<\/span><\/p>\n

then, and only then<\/span><\/p>\n

will I relinquish my seat<\/span><\/p>\n

for the crook of a soft couch\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

where I am bound to curl up like a cat<\/span><\/p>\n

After much rest<\/span><\/p>\n

after the mental debris settles<\/span><\/p>\n

I will look behind me and notice\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

how much ground I have covered<\/span><\/p>\n
