{"id":102429,"date":"2021-06-27T08:12:43","date_gmt":"2021-06-27T12:12:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=102429"},"modified":"2021-06-27T08:12:43","modified_gmt":"2021-06-27T12:12:43","slug":"hour-23-tale-as-old-as-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/hour-23-tale-as-old-as-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Hour 23 &#8211; Tale as Old as Time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first human to ever be<\/p>\n<p>bestowed<\/p>\n<p>with spellbinding words<\/p>\n<p>gifted to create<\/p>\n<p>weaves of tales, anecdotes,<\/p>\n<p>verses and poems, parallel worlds<\/p>\n<p>the world at her feet<\/p>\n<p>which somehow led astray and<\/p>\n<p>she found herself<\/p>\n<p>at the Devil&#8217;s gate.<\/p>\n<p>Quick on her feet,<\/p>\n<p>she showed him her gift<\/p>\n<p>and told him a tale so rich<\/p>\n<p>that he sat there enthralled<\/p>\n<p>his mouth agape<\/p>\n<p>happily he fed her<\/p>\n<p>some cheese and grapes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is my favourite,<\/p>\n<p>this yellow wonder<\/p>\n<p>Go on, have a taste,<\/p>\n<p>just surrender.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She nibbled at it<\/p>\n<p>and then devoured it whole<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I could eat this in pies and<\/p>\n<p>meats and bread rolls!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The melted goodness captured her heart<\/p>\n<p>and she began to sing odes<\/p>\n<p>to this piece of culinary art.<\/p>\n<p>However, this Lucifer didn&#8217;t appreciate<\/p>\n<p>for the Cheese supplies at the time were severely depleted.<\/p>\n<p>He didn&#8217;t want humans to<\/p>\n<p>find his treasure<\/p>\n<p>so he decided to make<\/p>\n<p>the first poet his prisoner.<\/p>\n<p>But she begged and begged<\/p>\n<p>to not let her gift go waste,<\/p>\n<p>So they struck a deal in haste.<\/p>\n<p>She was not use her words to entice<\/p>\n<p>humans to come searching<\/p>\n<p>for cheese like mice.<\/p>\n<p>She gave him her word<\/p>\n<p>and returned home<\/p>\n<p>making sure to pass this<\/p>\n<p>promise along<\/p>\n<p>So you see that explains<\/p>\n<p>in terms quite neat<\/p>\n<p>why poets have been<\/p>\n<p>mysteriously silent on the<\/p>\n<p>subject of cheese.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first human to ever be bestowed with spellbinding words gifted to create weaves of tales, anecdotes, verses and poems, parallel worlds the world at her feet which somehow led astray and she found herself at the Devil&#8217;s gate.
