Tired Professor Syndrome<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Professor Pela used to be good, old students said<\/p>\n

But we are yet to see him perform<\/p>\n

He\u2019s in almost every committee<\/p>\n

He doesn\u2019t mentor any one much, not anymore<\/p>\n

Looks like he\u2019s counting the days to retirement<\/p>\n

But he has a while to go, I think<\/p>\n

Is he burned out? Is he?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Don\u2019t know<\/p>\n

He has time to gossip<\/p>\n

He has time to give some student the fear of God \u2013<\/p>\n

And these are students who already fear the Almighty.<\/p>\n

Well, he still knows the stuff if he cares to dust up his notes<\/p>\n

But he can\u2019t be bothered, he has turned to a historian, a hundred percent<\/p>\n

In our engineering design class<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I once heard him say he can\u2019t stand undergraduates<\/p>\n

He doesn\u2019t do much research anymore<\/p>\n

His graduate students have no shepherd<\/p>\n

They know they\u2019re on their own<\/p>\n

But his name still brings grants<\/p>\n

Only that another does the work<\/p>\n

And he stamps his name on the product<\/p>\n

Faster than any other could spell \u201cFast\u201d<\/p>\n

What has happened to him, Professor Pela?<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat has happened\u201d you ask?<\/p>\n

I hear he has TPS<\/p>\n

Who? What? Enh? TP who?<\/p>\n

TPS \u2013Tired Professor Syndrome<\/p>\n

That\u2019s the Syndrome of Tired Professors,<\/p>\n

Professors who are tired but not retired.<\/p>\n
