{"id":10372,"date":"2015-06-13T18:27:36","date_gmt":"2015-06-13T22:27:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=10372"},"modified":"2015-06-13T18:27:36","modified_gmt":"2015-06-13T22:27:36","slug":"autobiography-of-a-face-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2015\/06\/autobiography-of-a-face-9\/","title":{"rendered":"Autobiography of a Face"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Look to the lines<br \/>\nNot just the brow:<br \/>\nAround the nose<br \/>\nBeside the mouth<br \/>\nBeneath the eyes<br \/>\nEven the chin<\/p>\n<p>Observe the chin<br \/>\nWeak or strong lines?<br \/>\nAnd keep your eyes<br \/>\nOn the eyebrow<br \/>\nThe second mouth<br \/>\nSpeaks\u00a0what it knows<\/p>\n<p>Ignore the nose<br \/>\nFor shape, the chin<br \/>\nBetrays the mouth<br \/>\nWith habit-lines<br \/>\nA furrowed brow<br \/>\nStays in the eyes<\/p>\n<p>To the right eyes<br \/>\nOr a keen nose<br \/>\nLoquacious brow<br \/>\nWill soon pitch in<br \/>\nThose tell-tale lines<br \/>\nThough closed the mouth<\/p>\n<p>And by that mouth<br \/>\nBehind the eyes<br \/>\nAre written lines<br \/>\nThat life\u00a0well knows<br \/>\nProud, forward chin<br \/>\nHides anxious brow<\/p>\n<p>Oh, traitor brow!<br \/>\nThough pinched the mouth<br \/>\nAnd bold the\u00a0chin<br \/>\nThe brow holds &#8220;ayes&#8221;<br \/>\nWhere tongue claims &#8220;noes&#8221;<br \/>\nIn practiced lines<\/p>\n<p>Writ on the\u00a0brow, clear to my\u00a0eyes<br \/>\nAn open\u00a0mouth above the\u00a0nose<br \/>\nTake on the\u00a0chin: truth in those lines<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Prompt: Anatomy of a Face<br \/>\nForm: Sestina<\/p>\n<p><em>This was fun.
