{"id":105601,"date":"2022-06-25T14:41:29","date_gmt":"2022-06-25T18:41:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=105601"},"modified":"2022-06-25T19:41:19","modified_gmt":"2022-06-25T23:41:19","slug":"2022-hour-one-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2022\/06\/2022-hour-one-2\/","title":{"rendered":"2022 Poem One"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Untitled<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My favorite time to go to the ocean<\/p>\n<p>is December.<\/p>\n<p>No tourists clogging up the streets,<\/p>\n<p>RVs parked in the accessible parking spots.<\/p>\n<p>There is finally enough room<\/p>\n<p>to lay out a blanket for me and my thoughts.<\/p>\n<p>Spend the day under a grey sun.<\/p>\n<p>I meet the sand<\/p>\n<p>meets the ocean<\/p>\n<p>meets the snow<\/p>\n<p>meets the sea grass<\/p>\n<p>meets the rocks.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s warmer here than it is at home even though it\u2019s winter.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s calmer here too.<\/p>\n<p>The waves rolling in<\/p>\n<p>keep time with the moon.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll make sure to take take my sweatpants off<\/p>\n<p>to wade into the ocean in shorts.<\/p>\n<p>Feel the ocean meeting land<\/p>\n<p>and feel the whole universe move beneath my feet.<\/p>\n<p>Bask in how small I truly am then<\/p>\n<p>walk back to the car, shoes in my hand.<\/p>\n<p>Taking the snow and ice covered stone steps<\/p>\n<p>reminding myself<\/p>\n<p>I am here.<\/p>\n<p>I am alive.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Untitled My favorite time to go to the ocean is December.
