{"id":106635,"date":"2022-06-25T09:17:05","date_gmt":"2022-06-25T13:17:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/?p=106635"},"modified":"2022-06-25T09:17:05","modified_gmt":"2022-06-25T13:17:05","slug":"trepidation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2022\/06\/trepidation\/","title":{"rendered":"Trepidation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We would walk up<br \/>\non tippy toes<br \/>\ninto the frigid bay<br \/>\nJuly heat forcing us<br \/>\nto see relief<\/p>\n<p>With each successive ebbing wave<br \/>\nwe would rise up<br \/>\navoid the next higher<br \/>\nline of cold depth<br \/>\nsoaking into our suits<\/p>\n<p>until finally<br \/>\none of us brave enough<br \/>\nwould inhale deeply<br \/>\nand submerge<br \/>\ndisappear from light and air<\/p>\n<p>the rest of us<br \/>\nfortified by the challenge<br \/>\neach took our turn<br \/>\nuntil only one remained<br \/>\nhow we&#8217;d coax and cajole<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not that bad once you get used to it<br \/>\nC&#8217;mon, it feels great<br \/>\nJust dive in and get it over with<\/p>\n<p>with shivering giggles<br \/>\nthe last of us would sink<br \/>\ndown below the surface<br \/>\njump up hooping and hollering<br \/>\nas though birthed anew<\/p>\n<p>[Prompt 1: Write a poem about being in water.
