{"id":106974,"date":"2022-06-25T09:52:16","date_gmt":"2022-06-25T13:52:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/?p=106974"},"modified":"2022-06-25T09:57:27","modified_gmt":"2022-06-25T13:57:27","slug":"mud-puddles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2022\/06\/mud-puddles\/","title":{"rendered":"Mud Puddles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Small town.<\/p>\n<p>Houses surrounded by dirt roads occasionally<\/p>\n<p>sparkling with small pieces of gravel.<\/p>\n<p>Tumbleweeds blowing across empty cotton fields,<\/p>\n<p>Loud claps of thunder.<\/p>\n<p>Flashing \u00a0furious lightening.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Rain pouring from the sky.<\/p>\n<p>Kids racing outside in oversized \u00a0yellow rain boots.<\/p>\n<p>splashing in ginormous rivers of still red colored water in flat ditches.<\/p>\n<p>a laughter.<\/p>\n<p>Dogs barking and chasing laughing children<\/p>\n<p>amazed at the wonderful treat.and slight \u00a0hint of cool \u00a0refreshment.<\/p>\n<p>bullfrogs long hidden filling the air in croaky hallelujahs.<\/p>\n<p>Swimming to Africa across the street.<\/p>\n<p>catching tadpoles while listening for the warning rattle from the grassy sides of the water.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mothers calling from porches with icy strawberry popsicles that ran in sticky streams down mud caked faces.<\/p>\n<p>Day ending i bubble \u00a0baths\u2019 giggles, and stories.Simple pleasure<\/p>\n<p>Mud puddles.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Small town.
