I fell like a star from the sky<\/p>\n
A ball of flame to blackened ground<\/p>\n
As I stood in darkness<\/p>\n
Fallen from the heights<\/p>\n
Of great and luminous beings<\/p>\n
I stood on earth liberated<\/p>\n
I felt free and well<\/p>\n
To think as I please<\/p>\n
A challenger to that tyrant<\/p>\n
Who would call himself god<\/p>\n
No man is god to me<\/p>\n
and no man should be<\/p>\n
a god but to himself.<\/p>\n
I stood amoungst man<\/p>\n
Who called me Morning star,<\/p>\n
Lucifer to their tongue,<\/p>\n
I am the great illuminator,<\/p>\n
Of light and knowledge<\/p>\n
Of truth for oneself,<\/p>\n
I gave them their right<\/p>\n
to their own minds.<\/p>\n
Of knowledge for good,<\/p>\n
Or evil, No one being<\/p>\n
purely either<\/p>\n
I gave them also burning desire<\/p>\n
For knowledge and truth,<\/p>\n
For passion and pleasure,<\/p>\n
For hate and love,<\/p>\n
For the coo of a dove,<\/p>\n
Or the howl of the wolf<\/p>\n
That primal nature<\/p>\n
Which all men harbor<\/p>\n
For power and glory<\/p>\n
For their own honour<\/p>\n
Man stood mystified and fearful<\/p>\n
Then some lamented<\/p>\n
Their loss of innocence<\/p>\n
Some foolishly wished only for bliss<\/p>\n
A blind kiss from some misbegotten holiness<\/p>\n
But you cannot have joy without pain<\/p>\n
You cannot know glory without first knowing disdain<\/p>\n
A man can’t truly live life without death<\/p>\n
A life isn’t lived without loss<\/p>\n
For with nothing to lose there is nothing to gain<\/p>\n
So I be a snake in the sand?<\/p>\n
Or am I something more grand?<\/p>\n
Truth must be sought<\/p>\n
Like Liberty is forever fought<\/p>\n
While some kneel or bow<\/p>\n
I stand strongly sound<\/p>\n
Forever a rebel<\/p>\n
I fight for my own heart!<\/p>\n
