It can be about swimming, the shower, a bath, the rain, etc.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><u>The Poet\u2019s River<\/u><\/h2>\n<p>And so, it starts. After being poised, quivering<br \/>\nin nervous anticipation, shivering.<br \/>\nPrompt on the hour, the claxon sounds.<br \/>\nAs one, we pinch noses, dive in, from separate grounds.<\/p>\n<p>Safe. Knowing as I do, I\u2019ll be underwater with you<br \/>\nfor the next 24 hours. The day (and night), only ours,<br \/>\nto gently swim together, or race.<br \/>\nTo frolic, glide, discover \u2013 at our own pace.<\/p>\n<p>We will cast our nets and catch the words<br \/>\nattached to everything everywhere like seaweed.<br \/>\nWe will string them together into verse,<br \/>\nwhich we will wonder over later as we read.<\/p>\n<p>I will remain fresh, calm, joyous and still.<br \/>\nAnd when I flag, for flag and flail I will,<\/p>\n<p>You will nudge me. Not judge me. Or let me bail out.<br \/>\nI\u2019ll waken from exhaustion as I hear your shout.<\/p>\n<p>As will I, for you, my brethren, my tribe so dear.<br \/>\nI\u2019ll say bravo as often as you want to hear.<br \/>\nAnd together we\u2019ll string the pearls of words into verse.<br \/>\nAnd send them out bravely, into the universe.<\/p>\n<p>Once the day is done, then the night, then the day again, bright,<br \/>\nwe will start swimming up towards the light.<br \/>\nReach up. Break water. Gasp at the shock of the glare.<br \/>\nShake off the droplets of exhaustion. Breathe in air.<\/p>\n<p>Carrying with us for one whole year<br \/>\nthe exhilaration of swimming in the poet\u2019s river.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hour One &#8211; Write a poem about being in water.
