I don\u2019t like<br \/>\nto exercise the power of my arms<br \/>\nconnected to my shoulders<br \/>\nconnected to my body.<br \/>\nOh god, my body,<\/p>\n<p>Where to start?<br \/>\nAt my toes, guaranteed<br \/>\nto send me straight into a dissociated spree.<br \/>\nOr my fingers, the pull and stretch<br \/>\nof skin over bone.<\/p>\n<p>That same skin<br \/>\nwill wrinkle in the pools<br \/>\nof children\u2019s toxins<br \/>\nand old people\u2019s skin patches.<\/p>\n<p>Dentures float around<br \/>\nwhile I try to tell myself,<br \/>\nit\u2019s okay, no one is looking at you anyway.<br \/>\nMaybe I don\u2019t like swimming,<br \/>\nor maybe I just don\u2019t like the public-<br \/>\nness of it all.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It has been ten years since I last set foot into a bodice of water.
