A bright and cheerful person like me,<\/p>\n

You wonder what my worry might be,<\/p>\n

Why I sometimes have to back away,<\/p>\n

Not always breezy and carefree.<\/p>\n

The darkest evening of the year<\/span>,<\/p>\n

Unlike others, is the day I least fear,<\/p>\n

The one I wait for and vie for,<\/p>\n

Though unbothered, I might appear.<\/p>\n

You ask of me worried, why it is so,<\/p>\n

So my worries I will now forgo,<\/p>\n

And I shall tell you what plagues me,<\/p>\n

The battle I am forced to fight solo.<\/p>\n

Not just sleep’s prisoners in the nights,<\/p>\n

It bleeds into the shine of the sun’s lights.<\/p>\n

Always only a second away from a slumber,<\/p>\n

My dreams are the place of my biggest frights.<\/p>\n

So spare me if I beg for a few more hours,<\/p>\n

Of the dark cloak of night’s powers,<\/p>\n

A few more hours where it’s peace for me too,<\/p>\n

The peace you find in meadows and flowers.<\/p>\n
