I don&#8217;t know<br \/>\nI ponder should I take a look<br \/>\nOr simply leave it be<br \/>\nA mystery near the little brook<br \/>\nSo near and dear to me<\/p>\n<p>Alas, I muster courage<br \/>\nA strength from far beyond<br \/>\nTo saunter down the path ahead<br \/>\nBeside the frozen pond<br \/>\nAnd gaze before this mystery<br \/>\nFor any form of sign<br \/>\nOf origins or history<br \/>\nFor this figment of mine<\/p>\n<p>As I inched slowly nearer<br \/>\nI saw a speck of brown<br \/>\nAn outline drawing clearer<br \/>\nAmid the snowy down<br \/>\nAlas, it was a bottle<br \/>\nWith writing worn and faded<br \/>\nAn older scrawl-like mottle<br \/>\nObviously quite degraded<\/p>\n<p>I wonder how it got here<br \/>\nAnd then I wonder more<br \/>\nIt surely held a story<br \/>\nI would like to implore<br \/>\nAnd so, I grabbed the figment<br \/>\nPacked tightly in the snow<br \/>\nWith its brownish amber pigment<br \/>\nTo see what it may know<\/p>\n<p>No notes nor scraps of paper<br \/>\nI find no signs at all<br \/>\nExcept one odd bright blue marking<br \/>\nWith a number to call<br \/>\nI quickly jot the number<br \/>\nAnd give the place a ring<br \/>\nWhere a mid-aged man would answer<br \/>\nExplaining the whole thing<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ten years, I lost my Mother<br \/>\nTo that bottle in the snow<br \/>\nI wrote my number on it<br \/>\nSo maybe one would know<br \/>\nNot only had she struggled<br \/>\nBut alas, she also lived<br \/>\nAnd was loved by oh so many<br \/>\nWith a lot more love to give.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I hung up and leaned forward<br \/>\nThis gift had been for me<br \/>\nI poured my bottle down the sink<br \/>\nAnd walked beyond the tree<br \/>\nReturning where the bottle&#8217;d been<br \/>\nAnd placed it where it was<br \/>\nSo it was there, left to be seen<br \/>\nBy one needing some cause<\/p>\n<p>The figment changed my life that day<br \/>\nMy world is better since<br \/>\nAnd when I see the snow, I pray<br \/>\nThen, through my tears, I wince<br \/>\nFor there are many struggling still<br \/>\nI hope someday they&#8217;ll find<br \/>\nThe courage or the sudden will<br \/>\nIn that figment of mine<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Between the woods and frozen lake&#8230;&#8221; Robert Frost,\u00a0Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening, line 7. &nbsp; Between the woods and frozen lake A figment in the snow A foreign sign found at daybreak What is it?
