{"id":109184,"date":"2022-06-25T12:12:50","date_gmt":"2022-06-25T16:12:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/?p=109184"},"modified":"2022-06-25T12:12:50","modified_gmt":"2022-06-25T16:12:50","slug":"a-hundred-years-post-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2022\/06\/a-hundred-years-post-4\/","title":{"rendered":"A Hundred Years-Post 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A hundred years ago<\/p>\n<p>Women won the right to vote<\/p>\n<p>White women, that is.<\/p>\n<p>It was a start<\/p>\n<p>But it was big, huge<\/p>\n<p>Tremendous.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday rights<\/p>\n<p>were stripped from us<\/p>\n<p>Rights hard fought, hard won<\/p>\n<p>Rights are tenable, tenuous<\/p>\n<p>Because we are women<\/p>\n<p>We are not allowed simple fights<\/p>\n<p>We must claw, beg, cajole, demand, scream<\/p>\n<p>We are born to hold a sign in protest<\/p>\n<p>We fought for years<\/p>\n<p>Just to have some backwards<\/p>\n<p>white conservatives and<\/p>\n<p>Uncle Clarence<\/p>\n<p>Come for what we earned<\/p>\n<p>This time, we will not<\/p>\n<p>roll over,<\/p>\n<p>even if it takes 100 years more<\/p>\n<p>to achieve the rights<\/p>\n<p>Others are granted at birth.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A hundred years ago Women won the right to vote White women, that is.
