I wandered one day in the forest,<\/p>\n

feeling as if I was led,<\/p>\n

when I heard what sounded like music<\/p>\n

from a piano somewhere up ahead.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I followed the strains of the melody<\/p>\n

drawing me deeper into the wood.<\/p>\n

The song strangely haunting, familiar –<\/p>\n

inspired by evil or good?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The trees seemed to gather around me,<\/p>\n

the path I had trod turned to sand<\/p>\n

when there in a clearing before me<\/p>\n

stood a decrepit, upright grand.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

How had this tired old fellow<\/p>\n

come to this desolate glade<\/p>\n

his torso filled with dry, brown leaves<\/p>\n

his keys no longer played?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I felt a presence answer me<\/p>\n

as I cautiously lingered there,<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve called you to be with me<\/p>\n

I\u2019m the love you\u2019ve sought elsewhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A chill ran through my body<\/p>\n

when I heard the specter speak.<\/p>\n

I turned to run away from there,<\/p>\n

my lungs let out a shriek.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I raced out of the forest<\/p>\n

escaping from that hell,<\/p>\n

I still could hear the music<\/p>\n

coming from the haunted shell.<\/p>\n

I look back on that frightful day<\/p>\n

and question, was it real,<\/p>\n

as I sit here with my lover<\/p>\n

tickling ivories with zeal.<\/p>\n
