2022 prompt 4 \/ hour 4 \u201cghosts dancing in the forest\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n


\nThe piano sits now, silent<\/span><\/p>\n

He moved it out of the house long ago<\/span><\/p>\n

Couldn\u2019t bear to have it inside<\/span><\/p>\n

Couldn\u2019t bear to part with it either <\/span><\/p>\n

It was *hers*<\/span><\/p>\n

Took it to deep into the forested area, well behind the homestead <\/span><\/p>\n

There is stays being reclaimed by nature, as all things eventually are<\/span><\/p>\n

He visits, sometimes with family<\/span><\/p>\n

His granddaughter comes with him often <\/span><\/p>\n

The mannequin was her addition and he doesn\u2019t mind<\/span><\/p>\n

She\u2019s 8 and saw it and thought it was a good idea<\/span><\/p>\n

And there\u2019s a symmetry to it, to his mind <\/span><\/p>\n

A broken mannequin, playing a broken piano, on the property of a broken man, who visits because it holds *her* urn<\/span><\/p>\n

Symmetry is good, he thinks<\/span><\/p>\n

Best to be ready<\/span><\/p>\n

So when it\u2019s time his ashes can be put next to her, within the piano <\/span><\/p>\n

Then their spirits can rise and dance in the forest to the tunes from the ghost piano<\/span><\/p>\n

She always did love music<\/span><\/p>\n
