on the table next to her and popped<\/p>\n
a cracker and a cube of extra-sharp cheddar cheese<\/p>\n
into her mouth.<\/p>\n

She stood.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m going out to water the sunflower bed.<\/p>\n
Wanna come? It\u2019s pretty out.\u201d<\/p>\n

and slid her book into her satchel.<\/p>\n

Outside, they stood on the driveway pavement<\/p>\n
and discussed whether there was space<\/p>\n
in this flower bed to add some zinnias,<\/p>\n
or should they go in the bed on the other side of the yard.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Arms around each other,<\/p>\n
they spent several amiable minutes<\/p>\n
admiring the garden, the fireflies,<\/p>\n
and the moon-filled night.<\/p>\n
