2022 prompt 5 \/ hour 5 \u201cyou\u2019ll understand when you\u2019re older\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Goddammit he had finangled his way here to the study at the centre of the castle<\/span><\/p>\n

Only to find that the senior sorcerer\u2019s favourite mirror only showed *clouds*?<\/span><\/p>\n

This could not be real?<\/span><\/p>\n

This could not be all there was?<\/span><\/p>\n

All enchanted mirrors could show <\/span><\/p>\n

Other lands<\/span><\/p>\n

Other worlds<\/span><\/p>\n

Other places<\/span><\/p>\n

Other possibilities<\/span><\/p>\n

Other times<\/span><\/p>\n

Other alternatives<\/span><\/p>\n

For what could, might, should be influenced by <\/span><\/p>\n

The enchanters, <\/span><\/p>\n

The magicians and <\/span><\/p>\n

The sorcerers<\/span><\/p>\n

But here<\/span><\/p>\n

In the inner room<\/span><\/p>\n

In the calm<\/span><\/p>\n

In the quiet<\/span><\/p>\n

There were *clouds* <\/span><\/p>\n

There was a never ending, never failing clear sunny day<\/span><\/p>\n

He breathed in and shook his head<\/span><\/p>\n

This was a stupid challenge<\/span><\/p>\n

What was he going to tell the other guys?<\/span><\/p>\n

He was going to just have to make something up<\/span><\/p>\n

Because seriously this made *zero* sense<\/span><\/p>\n

All that skill<\/span><\/p>\n

All that power<\/span><\/p>\n

All that potential <\/span><\/p>\n

And the senior sorcerer had a magic mirror of a sunny day with fat fluffy white clouds?<\/span><\/p>\n

He shook his head again<\/span><\/p>\n

Maybe his mum was right <\/span><\/p>\n

Maybe he would just need to be older to understand some things<\/span><\/p>\n

Then again\u2026older people were always telling you that while either <\/span><\/p>\n

-looking really grumpy; or <\/span><\/p>\n

-looking really sad<\/span><\/p>\n

He just hoped this one wasn\u2019t sad<\/span><\/p>\n
