Why are we afraid to sign up as number\u00a0one on a piece of paper,<\/p>\n
first reader in a setting?<\/p>\n
A coffee shop, library, reading, or celebration.<\/p>\n
Why are we so shy to start the race for others to follow?<\/p>\n
We are easily remembered as we are forgotten.<\/p>\n
Being first helps that shy guy in the back row<\/p>\n
resisting feel the comfort of a room.<\/p>\n
As a new Poet Laureate recites and remembers those we lost,<\/p>\n
I feel comfort of going first today,<\/p>\n
raising the glass and the bar.<\/p>\n
The futuristic laureate just might be sitting in that back seat<\/p>\n
I know I sat that in shyness seat once.<\/p>\n
Reading is like dancing even when we feel insecure and silly,<\/p>\n
crowds appreciate those who have balls to stand out.<\/p>\n
