{"id":110929,"date":"2022-06-25T14:16:19","date_gmt":"2022-06-25T18:16:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/?p=110929"},"modified":"2022-06-25T14:16:19","modified_gmt":"2022-06-25T18:16:19","slug":"waddle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2022\/06\/waddle\/","title":{"rendered":"Waddle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>He knows his harness.<br \/>\nIt means walk.<br \/>\nHe loves out<br \/>\nPuddles to get yanked from<br \/>\nTrash to hunt and devour<br \/>\nTil it gets ripped away<br \/>\nMid chomp<br \/>\nNot fair.<\/p>\n<p>The breeze fluffs some fluff.<br \/>\nA roll in the grass<br \/>\nEmbeds dirt deep down<br \/>\nTo deep for the comb<\/p>\n<p>He pulls at that leash so hard<br \/>\nHe is like a sled dog trying to win the Iditarod.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed.<\/p>\n<p>But seeing that harness he flies past<br \/>\nHer fingertips barely grazing<br \/>\nCourse hairs<br \/>\nAnd a nub<br \/>\nIf she turns to corner him<br \/>\nHe sits on edge<br \/>\nWaiting to bolt like a cornered mouse<br \/>\nAbout to be the cat&#8217;s lunch <\/p>\n<p>If she ignores him he comes<br \/>\nNips the back of an arm<br \/>\nRuns off.<\/p>\n<p>What is wrong with this dog?<\/p>\n<p>As a walk wears on he lags<br \/>\nHis rocket boosters puttering.<br \/>\nNow he&#8217;s just laying there<br \/>\nWon&#8217;t budge.<br \/>\nFrom Usian Bolt to a lump.<\/p>\n<p>She gives him a look.<br \/>\nThat corgi has better get his waddle on.<br \/>\nShe already chased him round<br \/>\nAnd got drug like trash hanging off the truck<br \/>\nShe isn&#8217;t carrying his Majesty too.<\/p>\n<p>His royal corginess catches the breeze<br \/>\nHer sighs are blowing<\/p>\n<p>Waddle<br \/>\nWaddle<br \/>\nSlower and slower<br \/>\nWaddle<br \/>\nWaddle<br \/>\nAll the way home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>He knows his harness.
