{"id":11093,"date":"2015-06-13T20:35:06","date_gmt":"2015-06-14T00:35:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=11093"},"modified":"2015-06-13T20:35:06","modified_gmt":"2015-06-14T00:35:06","slug":"old-red-truck","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2015\/06\/old-red-truck\/","title":{"rendered":"Old Red Truck"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is funny how much you can accumulate living in one place.<\/p>\n<p>Trunks full of books, pictures, poems, stories, most hard to replace.<\/p>\n<p>2500 miles away, an apartment waits.<\/p>\n<p>Big Red wasn&#8217;t so big, but would try to do what was needed.<\/p>\n<p>So, pile in the boxes, throw on a tarp with plenty of rope to keep it.<\/p>\n<p>100 miles, the cat is not happy being in a cage, and lets you know.<\/p>\n<p>200 miles, Big Red starts to make noises like she is ready to blow.<\/p>\n<p>600 miles, Oh! No! it is starting to rain, pouring straight down.<\/p>\n<p>1000 miles, you pull over to sleep as you see truckers are starting to frown.<\/p>\n<p>1500 miles left, Big Red please don&#8217;t break.<\/p>\n<p>Another 200 miles and you realize that gas is really starting to cost you.<\/p>\n<p>At the 1500 mark, you begin to think friends were right, the cat thinks so too.<\/p>\n<p>The next 500 miles seem to be all up hill, Big Red doesn&#8217;t like it at all.<\/p>\n<p>The last stop you make, check the ropes, rearrange the haul,<\/p>\n<p>200 more miles, no AC, and Arizona is baking.<\/p>\n<p>A new life, A new place, A new hope, A new chance<\/p>\n<p>Thank you Big Red, now you can rest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is funny how much you can accumulate living in one place.
