I hope you did not listen to me
\nwhat little did I know
\nand how little did I know it
\nhow often did it show?<\/p>\n

I hope you did not learn from me
\nI hope that it was clear
\nmy life was plagued by past regrets
\nthere were no lessons here<\/p>\n

Except to forge your own way through
\nthe obstacles you face
\nnot to become like your old man
\nnot to just take up space<\/p>\n

Pursue the passions of your heart
\nhave pride in who you are
\nfor doing what you\u2019re meant to do
\nis sure to take you far<\/p>\n

And if you know not what that is
\ndon\u2019t wallow in a pit
\nnor imagine what you could have done
\nwhilst there\u2019s still chance to do it<\/p>\n

I hope you did not learn from me
\nfor what had I to teach
\nexcept that, if your dreams are small,
\nthat\u2019s all you\u2019ll ever reach<\/p>\n
