{"id":111453,"date":"2022-06-25T14:46:59","date_gmt":"2022-06-25T18:46:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/?p=111453"},"modified":"2022-06-25T14:49:37","modified_gmt":"2022-06-25T18:49:37","slug":"a-letter-to-my-younger-self","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2022\/06\/a-letter-to-my-younger-self\/","title":{"rendered":"A Letter to My Younger Self (Hour 6)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Young Hafeezah,<\/p>\n<p>It was the year of 1990; you were always a quiet child with an active imagination.<\/p>\n<p>I watched you walked down the halls of Dubose Middle School trying to make yourself invisible.<\/p>\n<p>Each day you wanted to become someone else instead of who you were.<\/p>\n<p>Your head was covered in long pigtails with different color hair clamps on the end.<\/p>\n<p>You were tall and thin in statue almost equivalent to the shape of a boy.<\/p>\n<p>You wondered how the same girls your age could have curves and breasts.<\/p>\n<p>You secretly wanted to be like them laughing on the courtyard with their equally curvy friends.<\/p>\n<p>You started the school year late because of Hugo and on top of that you were a transfer.<\/p>\n<p>It was a relentless form of torture playing the game of disappearing and reappearing each day.<\/p>\n<p>I often wondered how you survived, and how many times you cried not to return to school the<\/p>\n<p>next day.
