Why I beat my last husband?<\/p>\n
Why I thought his ghost would haunt me?<\/p>\n
Why I don\u2019t remember leaving you?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Forget the past<\/p>\n
the tears and fears<\/p>\n
the joys stolen<\/p>\n
the voice taken<\/p>\n
the choices few<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t dredge up<\/p>\n
poverty\u2019s pain<\/p>\n
dreams deferred<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Even before I crossed to this side<\/p>\n
I drank deeply from the River Lethe —<\/p>\n
Killing all those memories<\/p>\n
Of love and loss and living<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Remember me in those moments<\/p>\n
where I would feign happiness<\/p>\n
let me breathe color into my empty life<\/p>\n
