Okay, it only took like forever, but I think I’ve hit my stride! How great is that? Alrighty, so hour 7 “my foolproof recipe for mending a broken heart” From the teal blue Burn after Reading prompt journal. Which is great because I was super excited to play around with formed poetry today – and this is the greatest opportunity I could ever dream of for a recipe poem – some of my favorite formed poems out there. So excited to see where this goes!<\/p>\n

Poem 7: A recipe poem<\/p>\n
To mend a broken heart,<\/p>\n
there is only one foolproof recipe:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Gather up a large bowl full of<\/p>\n
all the great memories you shared<\/p>\n
and a crack 5 medium eggs filled<\/p>\n
with the laughter and tears of joy<\/p>\n
and you can’t forget the extract<\/p>\n
of authenticity when you were at<\/p>\n
your strongest together. You know,<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
some relationships fade apart and<\/p>\n
others get dropped, cracked right<\/p>\n
down the middle, taken from you<\/p>\n
without any warning at all. And it’s<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
the difference between the two that<\/p>\n
reminds me – this is the ultimate recipe<\/p>\n
for healing. Once you have the wet<\/p>\n
ingredients – mixed into each other well<\/p>\n
start to weigh out the dry ingredients:<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
you need a pinch of the salt from<\/p>\n
the arguments that shouldn’t have been<\/p>\n
any real thing, but clearly were. Add in<\/p>\n
a cup and a half of sugar refined from<\/p>\n
all the moments that brought you closer<\/p>\n
than you ever imagined at “hello”.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Bake in the sun alongside the chalk<\/p>\n
drawings left behind by the kids next door<\/p>\n
and remember that healing takes time,<\/p>\n
it comes in all shapes and sizes too.<\/p>\n
