Cool, sweet oxygen filters, and I breathe deep<\/p>\n
the dark, fathomless waves above.<\/p>\n
Lights sweep above, too bright, flashing,<\/p>\n
and the metal beast descends.<\/p>\n
Brood-mother tells me they are humans,<\/p>\n
like us, but land-dwellers. They do not understand<\/p>\n
the singing stars and the pulse of the moon,<\/p>\n
they sink and search, but for what?<\/p>\n
Their ghosts linger everywhere now, and I swim on,<\/p>\n
though every now and then a bright light pierces close, and I dart,<\/p>\n
letting them catch a glint of my tail before I flee,<\/p>\n
