It was early morning<\/span><\/p>\n

Before the pink touched the sky<\/span><\/p>\n

I quietly climbed the tree <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It took a few minutes<\/span><\/p>\n

With my gear strapped on<\/span><\/p>\n

To settle and get my bearings<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Perched high above the smaller trees<\/span><\/p>\n

The brush and fallen branches<\/span><\/p>\n

The forest floor<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I wanted to drink some coffee<\/span><\/p>\n

But I was scent free now<\/span><\/p>\n

And making every attempt to stay that way<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The deer would be moving soon<\/span><\/p>\n

And I knew chances were slim<\/span><\/p>\n

Of spotting one<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But I had done my homework<\/span><\/p>\n

Hiking and scouting<\/span><\/p>\n

And watching for tracks<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I sat there drinking hot water<\/span><\/p>\n

Pretending that it contained caffeine<\/span><\/p>\n

And waiting, watching, wishing<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I heard a rustle nearby and froze<\/span><\/p>\n

Willing myself not to breathe<\/span><\/p>\n

The animal stopped, hesitated<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After a moment he moved<\/span><\/p>\n

Stepping into a clearing<\/span><\/p>\n

Not far from my where I sat<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I slowly raised my arms<\/span><\/p>\n

Looking closely through the lens of my scope<\/span><\/p>\n

He was perfect<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It was then that I moved my finger<\/span><\/p>\n

The action was in motion<\/span><\/p>\n

And I couldn\u2019t believe my luck<\/span><\/p>\n

First time out<\/span><\/p>\n
