If I’d known what I was saying yes to,<\/p>\n
On the day I chose this fork of the road.<\/p>\n
I would have said yes as soon as I could.<\/p>\n
Yes now and a million more times.<\/p>\n
I found in all six of you not just friends,<\/p>\n
But I found the warm comfort of family,<\/p>\n
Of being able to be completely myself,<\/p>\n
And still be accepted for who I really am.<\/p>\n
The feeling of free falling but not the fear,<\/p>\n
Of gravity vanishing as I reach the darkest of depths.<\/p>\n
Pulling out of the shroud, things I didn’t know,<\/p>\n
All the while knowing you’d still hold on to me.<\/p>\n
Being able to cry on your shoulders,<\/p>\n
Oh, your strong shoulders that can hold the earth,<\/p>\n
Being able to laugh and hear yours harmonising,<\/p>\n
Knowing my smile is mirrored on all of your faces.<\/p>\n
Where I am happy not just for me but all of you,<\/p>\n
Because y’all make me so happy, every day,<\/p>\n
Forcing me to fight for just another minute,<\/p>\n
Trusting I can get through whatever is getting to me.<\/p>\n
So thank you for being my kin through ‘kin selection’,<\/p>\n
I swear, it’s not just through ‘mere exposure’ because of ‘proximity’.<\/p>\n
If I had everyone to choose from for this journey,<\/p>\n
I know I would still choose each and every one of you.<\/p>\n
Not just helping me battle the demons I’ve been fighting,<\/p>\n
But for helping me grow and change and be better because of you.<\/p>\n
Oh, my babies,<\/p>\n
‘The sky could be falling, as long as you’re next to me,<\/p>\n
I got everything, everything, everything, everything.’<\/p>\n
