I went to see<\/span><\/p>\n

a bizarre, fierce thunder <\/span><\/p>\n

framed by <\/span><\/p>\n

cinematic flashes of<\/span><\/p>\n

monkeypeople on bikes<\/span><\/p>\n

and strobing mushrooms<\/span><\/p>\n

followed by thumping chuck chucks<\/span><\/p>\n

and the squelching growls<\/span><\/p>\n

of tightly coiled wires<\/span><\/p>\n

bleating out <\/span><\/p>\n

the rawness<\/span><\/p>\n

just beneath my skin<\/span><\/p>\n

wriggling<\/span><\/p>\n

uncomfortably<\/span><\/p>\n

at my own strangeness<\/span><\/p>\n

eager to break <\/span><\/p>\n

and lay itself open<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I have been the monkeypeople<\/span><\/p>\n

attempting to fit in,<\/span><\/p>\n

ritually tipping my hat<\/span><\/p>\n

in polite greeting<\/span><\/p>\n

to disinterested passerbys<\/span><\/p>\n

and failing to avoid<\/span><\/p>\n

oncoming traffic<\/span><\/p>\n

I am still a diver suspended <\/span><\/p>\n

in midair<\/span><\/p>\n

always waiting <\/span><\/p>\n

for the water<\/span><\/p>\n

to rise over my head<\/span><\/p>\n

and drown me <\/span><\/p>\n

in my own weird sounds<\/span><\/p>\n
