{"id":112794,"date":"2022-06-25T16:36:16","date_gmt":"2022-06-25T20:36:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/?p=112794"},"modified":"2022-06-25T16:36:16","modified_gmt":"2022-06-25T20:36:16","slug":"leprechauns-and-people-hour-eight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2022\/06\/leprechauns-and-people-hour-eight\/","title":{"rendered":"Leprechauns and People &#8211; Hour Eight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My little brother, Sam, doesn&#8217;t think leprechauns are real &#8211; can you believe that<br \/>\nGreen, lucky, rainbows, pots of gold<br \/>\nHow can they not be real<br \/>\nAfter all, green is a color, rainbows shine in the sky, luck happens and gold can be put in pots<br \/>\nSo they must be real if all those things are<br \/>\nMaybe, in reality, humans aren&#8217;t real<br \/>\nAnd leprechauns are<br \/>\nI mean, it seems like they&#8217;re dependable, showing up every March and on cereal boxes the rest of the year<br \/>\nPeople, on the other hand, can be unpredictable, cancel plans, and go absent for years on end<br \/>\nLeprechauns spread joy; people can spread hate<br \/>\nIn fact, they can seem quite fake<br \/>\nSo can you really say leprechauns are not real if people are fake<br \/>\nI don&#8217;t see how Sam thinks leprechauns aren&#8217;t real<br \/>\nI guess you just have to believe<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Adapted from the book\u00a0<em>Three Ways to Trap a Leprechaun by Tara Lazar. p.1, line 1.<br \/>\nPrompt from 2020 Poetry marathon.
