{"id":11285,"date":"2015-06-13T20:41:07","date_gmt":"2015-06-14T00:41:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=11285"},"modified":"2015-06-13T20:41:07","modified_gmt":"2015-06-14T00:41:07","slug":"poem-12-torn-lovers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2015\/06\/poem-12-torn-lovers\/","title":{"rendered":"Poem #12: Torn Lovers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ll behave in the setting sun,<\/p>\n<p>When you&#8217;re not around the chambered room,<\/p>\n<p>And maybe this is what life is supposed to be?<\/p>\n<p>People running carelessly through other&#8217;s hearts,<\/p>\n<p>Never knowing how to keep anything together,<\/p>\n<p>We rummage through drawers and fall apart,<\/p>\n<p>The sunken treasure in your soul,<\/p>\n<p>Or the way people live will give us a reason,<\/p>\n<p>To show our true colors.<\/p>\n<p>I know how the torn lovers speak,<\/p>\n<p>In riddles and the broken tongues spill out the truth,<\/p>\n<p>I see the emptiness of the day,<\/p>\n<p>One more day and then the next,<\/p>\n<p>Spilling words hoping they mean something eventually.<\/p>\n<p>I know this sickening world is full of light,<\/p>\n<p>And the darkness only cuts half as much as my sleep does,<\/p>\n<p>And the day grows intense, just like your fading lips on my skin,<\/p>\n<p>But these torn lovers know something I do not,<\/p>\n<p>And i&#8217;ve been ripped up for some time,<\/p>\n<p>Because of you, lover, you stole these eyes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ll behave in the setting sun, When you&#8217;re not around the chambered room, And maybe this is what life is supposed to be?
