\nOf cream emitting vapour
\nLet alone the taste
\nIt’s like chocolate bar
\nMelting on your tongue
\nOr your favourite ice cream
\nGliding down your throat
\nThat’s how much I love cereals<\/p>\n
Similac, Cerelac, Nutrend –
\nThis half-empty pack of Golden Morn
\nIn my cupboard reminds me of them,
\nOf growing up when we used to
\nEat them raw and Mama would warn us
\nTo desist but the taste would draw my
\nsiblings and I to do what Mama had forbidden<\/p>\n
So we ate one day and left the evidence
\nAll over our lips and the floor
\nAnd I ran to Mama once she returned
\nAnd reported that we didn’t eat raw Nutrend.<\/p>\n
I cannot now say whether it was guilt that pushed me or childhood innocence
