2 cans of B&M Baked Beans.<\/p>\n
Add – some combination of<\/p>\n
brown sugar, molasses, and<\/p>\n
mustard powder.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Dig out the special crockery<\/p>\n
only used for this purpose.<\/p>\n
Nothing fancy. It was a round<\/p>\n
casserole dish with a lid.<\/p>\n
Brown colored, with a faded<\/p>\n
yellow stripe.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The important thing was<\/p>\n
to get the beans baking in the oven<\/p>\n
on low heat, before the<\/p>\n
afternoon sun penetrated our kitchen<\/p>\n
on those hot, August days.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
On occasion, I\u2019ve attempted a<\/p>\n
vegetarian version of<\/p>\n
Dad\u2019s specialty. \u00a0Sadly, I<\/p>\n
don\u2019t have anyone around<\/p>\n
to ask for a taste test opinion.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
My surviving brothers aren\u2019t<\/p>\n
nearby. The grandchildren<\/p>\n
never tasted Dad\u2019s cooking.<\/p>\n
Mom\u2019s gone now, too.<\/p>\n

Perhaps I\u2019ll search for my own<\/p>\n
homely, baked bean pot \u2013 and start<\/p>\n
