{"id":114083,"date":"2022-06-25T17:55:19","date_gmt":"2022-06-25T21:55:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/?p=114083"},"modified":"2022-06-26T04:03:35","modified_gmt":"2022-06-26T08:03:35","slug":"inner-child-fed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2022\/06\/inner-child-fed\/","title":{"rendered":"Inner child, fed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There is a danger when I am home alone<br \/>\nand spy a carton of eggs<br \/>\nwhen opening the refrigerator door<br \/>\neven moreso if there is also<br \/>\nbread in the breadbox<br \/>\nand then if a saucepan is clean<br \/>\nI can hard-boil some of those eggs<br \/>\nwhile in another clean pan<br \/>\nI can heat butter, milk, flour,<br \/>\nsalt and pepper \u2013 heavy pepper<br \/>\ninto smooth, creamy white sauce<br \/>\nwhile the eggs boil<br \/>\nthe bread settles into<br \/>\nthe toaster<br \/>\nall returning me to<br \/>\nculinary Nirvana of my childhood<br \/>\nsliced, warm, hard-boiled eggs<br \/>\non buttered toast<br \/>\ncozily smothered in<br \/>\na blanket of cozy white sauce<br \/>\na meal kings would kill for<br \/>\nall my psychological<br \/>\nand cholesterol needs sated<\/p>\n<p>And for a few minutes<br \/>\nG-d is in heaven<br \/>\nall is right with the world\u2026<\/p>\n<p>unless my cardiologist<br \/>\nreads this. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u2013 Mark L.
