Tiny Bubbles<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t expect a full guffaw anymore.<\/p>\n

I was thrilled with a little side-ways<\/p>\n

grin towards the end.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The nursing staff helped<\/p>\n

set up the Face Time<\/p>\n

chats with the ipad.<\/p>\n

I told her she was a<\/p>\n

very cool Nana these days!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Sometimes that would elicit<\/p>\n

a bit of a smile.<\/p>\n

Then she would tell me<\/p>\n

her woes. I told her how<\/p>\n

very sorry I was.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For the Pandemic.<\/p>\n

For the broken hip.<\/p>\n

For the Assisted Living<\/p>\n

and missing her own home.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The last time we were allowed<\/p>\n

to visit Mom, it was outside<\/p>\n

with masks on. She told me she<\/p>\n

didn\u2019t need that damn thing<\/p>\n

and left it off. Harvey got her<\/p>\n

to sing \u201cTiny Bubbles\u201d and recorded<\/p>\n

it on his phone.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I can\u2019t say I would full-on chortle,<\/p>\n

remembering that day. We\u2019re probably talking<\/p>\n

my own kind of side-ways grin.<\/p>\n

And . . . a few tears any minute<\/p>\n

if I don\u2019t stop myself.<\/p>\n
